Mary Alice McQueen Nolen

Mary Alice McQueen Nolen, 89, of Elizabethton, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Butler, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Guy McQueen Sr. and Nelia Kathleen Dishman McQueen.
Mary was a 1945 graduate of Watauga Academy and was retired from the New River Valley Center for the Aging. She was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth White; a great-grandson, Robert Garcia; her brother, Sam McQueen; a sister, Remona Gregg; and a step-daughter, Judy Nolen Surratt.
Survivors include her children, Robert “Bob” White and wife Linda P White, Bessimer, Ala., Phil Dean White, Elizabethton, Judy McKinney and husband Larry, Elizabethton, Susan Loyal Limb, Elizabethton, Patsy Merryman of New Mexico and Kelly Cannon, Livingston, La.; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; her step-children, Terry Craig, Cocoa, Fla., Robert Nolen, Rainsville, W.Va., and James Nolen, Spencer, Va.; nine step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mary Alice McQueen Nolen will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Siebenaler, minister, and the Rev. Doug Hartley officiating. Music will be provided by Sherry Hicks. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Hope at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her friends from Nancy & Wayne’s Kitchen, Harold Hicks, Bob Bice and former students of Watauga Academy. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Valley Forge Christian Church, the staff of ICU and the 6200 wing of Johnson City Medical Center. The family will receive friends from noon Sunday until the service hour. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of Judy and Larry McKinney.
