A sense of giving back is the community motto when describing the activities for the next two weekends.
Following up this weekend’s Back-to-School Bash at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton will follow suit with the second annual Back-2-School Bash at Citizens Bank Stadium. The event is scheduled to take place Saturday, Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Attendees will have a bevy of activities to participate in, including two obstacle courses, free lunch, 10 inflatables, five hair stylists, and 1,000 backpacks full of school supplies.
“We want to encourage everyone to come out and enjoy a fun and free day with family and friends,” said Bekah Price, public relations coordinator with Elizabethton City Schools. “There will be all kinds of activities and information as well as lunch and door prizes.”
The event is open to the public. Along with the different activities, city school children will also have the opportunity to get school information from principals and teachers within the system.
Price added ECS wanted to thank the different parties that organized the event, including East River Park Christian Church, Elizabethton Police Department and Carter County Health Department. The top sponsors for the event include East River Park Christian Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Academy Sports, Southside Christian Church, Immanuel Baptist Church, Johnson City Press and Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone that has stepped up to meet this need and gotten involved,” said Price. “We were able to exceed our fundraising goal and to double the number of health and education partners that will be at the event. When I think of the dozens of sponsors, partners and volunteers that are making this happen, I really can’t say thanks enough.”
Over 25 community partners will be scattered across the stadium providing much needed information for students and families for the upcoming year.
Price added that service animals will be permitted but pets should stay at home. Children are also asked to wear shoes and socks to have comfort while playing in inflatables and doing the obstacle course.
ECS is also encouraging to visit the Back-2-School Bash Facebook page and share the event.
“We are encouraging everyone to take photos and share on Facebook with the tag #BetsyBash2017,” said Price.
