Elizabethton picks up second-straight win

After a three-game skid against Bluefield over the weekend, Elizabethton topped Pulaski 8-3 for their second-straight victory against the Yankees Tuesday.
Elizabethton is now 20-13 and rules the Appalachian League West while Greeneville sits in second at 16-14.
Batting
Elizabethton had 11 hits Tuesday evening with Akil Baddoo, Shane Carrier, Kolton Kendrick, Mark Contreras, and Robert Molina all getting two hits a piece. The E-Twins had two home runs with Carrier and Kendrick recording one each. Baddo finished with a triple while Molina had a double.
Pulaski finished the evening with seven hits with Eric Wagaman recording two.
Pitching
Twins Melvi Acosta (3-1) picked up the win as he tossed the first five innings. Acosta had five strike outs on the night while recording five walks. He finished with three hits and two runs against. Elizabethton’s Juan Gamez (2 Ks, 1 BB, 3 hits, 1 run) and Ricky Ramirez (1 K, 1 hit) both worked 1.2 innings for the Twins.
Yankees Alexander Vizcanino (2-2) was given the loss.
Second Inning
The Twins picked up two runs in the second inning with Molina bringing home Kendrick with an RBI double. Twins Andrew Bechtold scored off a SAC fly from Albanese giving Elizabethton a 2-0 edge.
Fifth Inning
After giving up two runs to the Yankees in the fourth, the Twins recorded four runs in the fifth to jump ahead 6-2. The inning saw back-to-back homers from Carrier and Kendrick.
Eighth Inning
Elizabethton climbed on out to an 8-2 lead in the eighth as Baddoo hit a single to score both Contreras and Molina.
The Yankees answered with a run in the bottom of the frame as Wagaman scored Saul Torres with a single.
Elizabethton will finish at Pulaski this evening.
