Patricia Parmelita Shell Pursell

Patricia Parmelita Shell Pursell, 83, of Jefferson City, formerly of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 19, 2017, from Sevierville Health and Rehab Center. Patricia was born in Avery County, N.C., on January 2, 1934 to the late Oscar K. Shell Sr. and Maruja Perry Shell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend John Wilbur Pursell; a sister, Barbara Woods; and a brother, Oscar K. Shell Jr.
Patricia was a former court reporter and housewife. She was of the Methodist faith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Larry Lumsdem, of North Carolina; one brother, Jon Shell and wife Sheila, of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; and two sisters, Joan Moore, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Gwen Read of Melbourne, Fla. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Patricia Parmelita Shell Pursell will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Reverend Gary Whitehead officiating. Bagpipes will be played by Mr. Jon Shell, nephew. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Sunday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff of Sevierville Health and Rehab Center and to Shirley Herring and Betty Jo Allen, for the love and care shown to Patricia during her illness.
