Joel Wayne White, 63, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Joel was a native of Johnson City. He was a son of the late Walter and Hazel Roach White.
Joel worked as an independent contractor for Schneider National. He loved life, his family, and his Lord. Joel was a wonderful husband, an amazing father and grandfather, a loving brother, and a fantastic uncle. Besides spending time with his family, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing a round with his golfing buddies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and James White; sister, Vanessa Hutchinson; niece, Angie Allen Wells; and brother-in-law, Bob Bennett.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Pat White; daughter, Tina Hyder and her husband Greg; two grandchildren, Faith Stewart and Gabriel Reece; sister, Mary Allen and her husband Duane; brother, Harold White and his wife Barbara; half sister, Renee Atkins; special nieces, Becky Allen, Kristen Grapperhaus, Tracy Paige, Leslie White, Amanda Turner, Sarah Pryor, Crystal Treadway, Jessica Atkins and Kassi White; brother-in-law, Bill Bennett, his wife Pam, and their daughter Nicole; and many other nieces, nephews and special friends.
A memorial service for Mr. White is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at Oak Street Baptist Church in Elizabethton. Pastor Chris Shumate will officiate and special music will be provided by Loren Harris. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Oak Street Baptist Church, 804 Oak Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center and Regional Cancer Center of Johnson City for their compassion and care.
