In late 2015, the eight County Mayors that make up the Board of the First Tennessee Development District approved a collective focus on initiatives in our region that could improve our workforce and ready our students for the jobs of the future. This interactive career exploration experience, CareerQuestTN is just one way we can do this for students in our region.
Over the course of March 21-22, 2017 from 8 am until 2 p.m. at the East Tennessee State University Mountain States Health Alliance Athletic Center Mini Dome located at John Robert Bell Drive in Johnson City more than 5,200 8-12th graders will experience this industry led, interactive experience focusing on advanced manufacturing, construction, healthcare and information technology.

MANUFACTURING
Manufacturing includes a broad range of careers, including engineering and technology, production, logistics and distribution, maintenance, installation and repair, business, management and administration. Those interested in computers, video games, engine repair, fixing things or programming cell phones, might find their calling in manufacturing.
CONSTRUCTION
Construction companies build places for people to work, live and play for generations. This industry offers a wide range of options for employment, including project managers, foremen, architects, laborers, welders, carpenters, plumbers, electricians and more. The possibilities are limitless.
HEALTH SCIENCES
Doctors and nurses aren’t the only people who work in healthcare. Healthcare careers include direct patient care, mental healthcare, veterinary medicine, hospital security, physical therapy and so much more. With an ever growing and aging population, the need for skilled professionals is booming in almost every area of the field.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT)
Information technology professionals are responsible for designing, developing, supporting and managing computer hardware, computer software and information networks, including the Internet. Students who want to create iPhone applications or animations for movies or help NASA perform remote space exploration might want to consider a career in Information Technology.

Through interactive exhibits and conversation, they can inspire young people to explore viable, high-potential careers in their industry. Participating employers, have a unique opportunity to engage students through conversation and demonstration; to show them firsthand what it’s like to be an RN, foreman, software developer, mechanical engineer and more.
• Job Seekers will learn that Employers are not only looking for the talent of the future, they need people today! Job Seekers should come to CareerQuestTN and explore high demand, high potential job openings in four industries: construction, advanced manufacturing, healthcare and information technology.
