Mary “Granny” Coleman

Mary “Granny” Coleman, 86, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Savior and her husband on Sunday, March 12, 2017, from Pine Ridge Care and Rehab Center of Elizabethton. Mary was born in Bluff City, Tenn., to the late Walter and Ada Nelson Morrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Roy Lee Coleman; two grandchildren, Virgil and Lloyd Dean Buckles Jr.; three brothers, Howard Morrell, Earl Morrell and Bill Morrell; her sister, Norma Faye Morrell; and a special son-in-law, Carroll “Moose” Mann.
Mary was a homemaker and most of all she was a loving mother, a hard worker, and a wonderful grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith and had cleaned homes and worked as a babysitter. She enjoyed yardwork, jigsaw puzzles, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mary collected salt and pepper shakers, loved giraffes and watching wrestling.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Nancy Katherine Lowe and Maggie Jane Mann, both of Carter County; her grandchildren, Jamie and Kevin Mann, Marsha Buckles and Markia Rutledge, all of Carter County; her great-grandchildren, Madison and Morgan Mann, Cassie, Damian and Andrew Buckles, Evan Mann, Thomas Nelson, Brayden Bacon, Wesley Keith and Camryn Salanis, all of Carter County; and her brothers and sisters, Paul Morrell, Hampton, Rose Foster of Kentucky, Claude Morrell, Elizabethton, Mona Turner, Jonesborough, Mable Maney of North Carolina, Nell Reed, Elizabethton, and Fairy Crumley, Bluff City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, in the Fireside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton. A graveside service to honor the life of Mary Lee Coleman will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, in the Emmert Cemetery in Elizabethton. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. Thursday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the employees at Pine Ridge Care and Rehab, especially Lois and Barb, for the love and care shown to Mary during her stay.
