Gov. Bill Haslam will be one of the many elected officials taking part in this year’s Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast.
Chamber Director Tonya Stevens announced on Friday that Haslam had officially confirmed he would attend the event on March 24.
“It will be the first time in my tenure here that he has come for this particular event,” Stevens said regarding Haslam’s confirmation. “We’re pretty excited about it.”
Several other lawmakers have confirmed their attendance at the event with the Chamber as well, Stevens said. Those who have already confirmed for the event are U.S. Rep. Phil Roe, M.D., State Sen. Rusty Crowe, State Sen. Jon Lundberg, State Rep. John Holsclaw Jr. and State Rep. Timothy Hill.
“Both of the U.S. Senators have to be in Washington that day, so they will not be able to join us,” Stevens said. Jill Salyer, who serves as U.S. Sen. Bob Corker’s Field Representative, has confirmed she will be at the breakfast to represent Corker, Stevens said, adding she is waiting to hear from the office of U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander to find out if they will be sending a representative to the event.
“And, of course, we’ll have both of our mayors,” Stevens said, adding both Carter County Mayor Leon Humphrey and Elizabethton Mayor Curt Alexander have told her they will be at the event.
“We have a full slate of people,” Stevens said.
This year’s Legislative Breakfast is set to take place on Friday, March 24, at 7:30 a.m. at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Elizabethton, located at 426 Highway 91, across from the Elizabethton Municipal Airport.
Tickets for the event are currently on sale through the Chamber of Commerce. The cost to attend the Legislative Breakfast is $25 per person. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets at the Chamber of Commerce, located at 500 Highway 19E Bypass, in Elizabethton. Tickets are also available online through the Chamber’s website at www.elizabethtonchamber.com/pages/legislative-breakfast.
Seating for the event is limited, so Stevens recommends anyone who plans to attend the breakfast purchase their ticket as soon as possible to make sure their space is reserved.
