Step into a colorful Revolutionary world this weekend at the Winter Militia Muster at Fort Watauga.
This special event will take place Saturday, Feb. 4 and Sunday, Feb. 5. at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area.
Visit Fort Watauga and meet an array of living historians who share the stories of the past through talks, displays, and demonstrations of 18th century life on the frontier.
Activities throughout the weekend include open-hearth cooking; militia drills and training; an 18th Century Publick House; Artillery Firing Demonstrations; Storytelling; Hand Sewing; Flintlock Rifle and Musket Firing.
Saturday, Feb. 4
10 a.m. — Militia Inspection and Raising the Colours
11:30 a.m. — Artillery Demonstration
1 p.m. — Militia Drill / Tactical Demonstration
2 p.m. Artillery Demonstration
3:30 p.m. Militia Drill
4 p.m. Retiring the Colours, Event Closes
Sunday, Feb. 5
10 a.m. — Raising the Colours
11 a.m. — Worship Service
1 p.m. — Artillery Demonstration
2 p.m. — Militia Drill / Tactical Demonstration
3 p.m. — Retiring the Colours, Event Closes
