In the regular business portion of Thursday’s meeting, the Board considered Ward’s contract to serve as Director of the school system.
“I would like to take this opportunity to make a motion to extend Dr. Ward’s contract for two years at $5,000 over and above what the state requires because he is at the minimum now,” Board Member Craig Davis said. “I would like to stipulate that Dr. Ward may be terminated at any time for just cause, but if he is terminated without just cause Dr. Ward is to be paid the remainder of his contract.”
The motion by Davis received a second from Board Member LaDonna Stout-Boone and passed unanimously by the Board on a vote.
In other business, the Board voted unanimously to grant Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director Mickey Taylor permission to proceed with plans to develop a new CTE program in the field of animal science. If created the program would be housed at Happy Valley High School and would serve students looking to become veterinarians or veterinarian technicians.
