Larry “Dean” Guinn, 65, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center. Dean was a native of Carter County and a son of the late George and Roxie Bunton Guinn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Guinn, and a sister, Pauline Keller.
Dean was self-employed, working as a small engine repair mechanic until his retirement. He loved his cats and enjoyed watching westerns.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sisters, Sue Stafford, Peggy Whitehead and husband Lee, and Mary Gouge and daughter Sherrie, all of Elizabethton; three brothers, Carl Guinn and wife Betty, Dennis Guinn, and Claude Guinn and wife Jo Ann, all of Elizabethton; and his girlfriend, Cindy Jenkins and her son, Rocky, of Hampton. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Larry “Dean” Guinn will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Bret Jones, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at any of the family’s residences at any time. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Keller, Jeff Guinn, Carl Lee Widner, Josh Johnson, Denny Lyons, Mack Henry, Danny Henegar and Donald Ray Holloway. Honorary pallbearers will be Daryl Greer, Chris Burgess, Shane Lyons and Frank, Danny and Jack Montgomery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday to go in procession.
