Martin Tinker Devine

Martin Tinker Devine, 76, of Roan Mountain, died at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, Tenn., on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, following a long illness. He lived most of his life in Norwich, N.Y. He was the son of the late Edward F. Devine and Frances Tinker Devine of Norwich, N.Y.
Mr. Devine graduated from Norwich High School where he was a member of the marching band. He served in the National Guard for four years and worked for 43 years for the Norwich Pharmacal Company and Procter and Gamble. He was also a gifted pianist and collected HO trains.
He is survived by his sister, Constance Devine Royer, and her husband, Dr. Carl Royer, of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; his nieces and nephews, Justine Marie Hein, and her husband, Michael, of Kingsport, Tenn., Stephen Thomas Swales, and his wife, Jennifer, of Woodbine, Md., Theodore William Royer, and his wife, Heidi, of Lantana, Fla., and Pamela Devine Butziger, and her husband, Peter, of Columbia, Md., as well as eight great-nieces and nephews, and eight great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Tetrick Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 27. A service conducted by Father Dennis Kress and Pastor Marvin Slagle will follow the visitation at 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Southside Cemetery in South Plymouth, N.Y., at a later date.
