Dana Elaine Keeling and Sara Grace Keeling

Dana Elaine Keeling, age 20, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 17, 2016, from the Johnson City Medical Center, as the result of injuries received in a house fire. Dana was born on September 30, 1996 to Emma Lou Grindstaff of Elizabethton. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Donald Paul Grindstaff and Lois Virginia Grindstaff.
Dana graduated from Unaka High School, Class of 2015, and was a phlebotomist. She was also a volunteer at the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter and was of the Baptist faith. Dana loved spending time with her daughter, listening to music, liked rockband T-shirts, Pokemon and Star Wars.
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Emma Grindstaff, of Elizabethton; her sister, Brandy Kay Vines, of Watauga; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws; and her other family — Phillip Tolley and Reva Woodby, both of Elizabethton.
Sara Grace Keeling, age 3, of Elizabethton, joined her Mom in the arms of Jesus on Friday, November 18, 2016, from the Johnson City Medical Center, as the result of injuries received in a house fire. Sara was born on November 8, 2013 to the late Dana Keeling and Phillip Franklin Tolley of Elizabethton.
Sara was a shining light and loved playing with her toys, especially Shopkins and Playdough. She enjoyed watching Playdough movies, dancing and singing.
Those left to cherish her memory include her father, Phillip Franklin Tolley, of Elizabethton; her paternal grandmother, Reva Woodby, of Elizabethton; her paternal grandfather, Phillip Allen Tolley, of Elizabethton; her maternal grandmother, Emma Grindstaff, of Elizabethton; her half sister, Luna Sara Grace Tolley (expected in May of 2017); and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A joint celebration of life for Dana Elaine Keeling and her daughter, Sara Grace Keeling, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Doug Hinshaw officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the residence of Dana’s mother, Emma Grindstaff, at any time. The graveside service will follow in the Carrico Cemetery in the Siam Community of Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
