City Council to convene Thursday

The Elizabethton City Council is preparing for future following Tuesday’s election.
Councilmen will convene at City Hall on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. with a relatively light agenda.
Items on the docket include:
• A consideration for a motion to approve a $3.2 million proposal to renovate Joe O’Brien Field following work compiled by the Elizabethton Twins Task Force.
• Second readings for a 2016-17 budget amendment to purchase the parking lot adjacent to the Bonnie Kate and adopt the city employee position classification plan and classification/compensation plan.
• A first reading for an ordinance to amend the 2016-17 budget to repair the City Hall security system and roof repairs at the airport, golf course and city garage.
• Three readings for the Elizabethton Police Department, including resolutions to authorize the department to enter into a grant contract and approve a fingerprinting agreement with Carter County for individuals arrested by the EPD. A motion will also be on the table to approve a special duty police service agreement with Wal-Mart.
• Action on two resolutions to approve data transport service agreements.
• Action on a resolution to authorize the sale of general obligation refunding and improvement bonds.
