Steven Ray Vaughn

Steven Ray Vaughn, 61, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born January 4, 1955 in Elizabethton.
Steven was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and a truck driver with H.T. Hackney Company. Steven was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. He was a Dale Earnhardt fan and he also loved camping.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Glass Vaughn, who died in January 2006; a brother, Rick Vaughn, who died in August 2004, and his long-time faithful companion, Brenda Peterson.
Survivors include his father, Arlie Vaughn; a brother, Dennis Vaughn, Elizabethton; a sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Doug Vandeventer, Elizabethton; and several nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
Funeral services for Steven Ray Vaughn will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Roby Ellis and Mr. Dennis Pierce, ministers, officiating. Music will be provided by the congregation. Interment will follow in the Scalf Cemetery, Watauga. Active pallbearers will be David Church, Billy Hilton, Larry Street, Steve Roberts, Chuck Hilton and Willie Holtsclaw. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Jonathan Winstead, Dr. Lori Church and Dr. Charles Famoyin and the nurses and staff of the 5200 Wing at Johnson City Medical Center.
