Investigators with the Elizabethton Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects in a vehicle burglary and multiple counts of credit card fraud.
On Sept. 14, officers of the EPD began an investigation into a vehicle burglary that had occurred in the parking lot of a local business.
“A witness had observed the incident and reported it to the victim and two law enforcement,” EPD Capt. Joy Shoun said.
The witness told officers she had witnessed the victim pull into the parking lot and go inside the store. The witness also reported seeing a gold sedan parked in front of the business.
“After the victim went inside, the vehicle pulled next to the victim’s vehicle and a black female was observed exiting the car and appeared to make entry into the victim’s car,” Shoun said. “The suspect vehicle was seen to be driven by a black male subject. The suspects’ vehicle was described as a gold sedan, with what appeared to be a Virginia license plate.”
The victim reported to officers that her purse had been stolen from her car. After the purse was stolen from the victim’s car, the suspects made multiple purchases using the victim’s credit cart at several locations in Elizabethton, Shoun said.
Security cameras captured an image of the gold sedan as well as the black male subject suspected to be involved in the incident and the Police Department has released those images in hopes of identifying the individuals involved in the burglary and credit card fraud.
If anyone has any information regarding the identity of either the male or female suspects, Shoun asks that they contact the Elizabethton Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (423) 547-6225 or the Crime Stoppers Tips Line at (423) 542-7574.
