Elizabethton native Kaitlyn Matheson was named the 2016 Miss Fairest of the Fair Monday night for the opening day of the 90th annual Appalachian Fair in Gray.
Matheson, 19 years old, is the daughter of Greg and Kim Matheson, both of Elizabethton. Other finalists included: 1st runner-up; Latanna Fisher of Gray, 2nd runner-up; Morgan Munsey of Church Hill, 3rd runner-up; Madison Mitchell of Church Hill, 4th runner-up; Harley Follis of Bluff City and Miss Congeniality was Aisha Reed of Gray. The Appalachian Fair is underway until Saturday, Aug. 27.
