Homer “Allen” Nelson, 59, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center, after a brief illness. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Homer A. Nelson and Dokie Marie Ward Nelson Townsend.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Faye Snowden Nelson; one sister, Ruby Fay Profitt; nephews, Johnny Nelson and Michael Guy and Blake and Colton Graybeal; niece, Amanda Guy Graybeal; and great-nephew, Adelynn Guy. Also several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Snowden Family and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
After high school, Allen worked on farms in Piney Flats. He later worked for Amerace Corporation as a machinist for several years. He attended the Tennessee Technology Center in Elizabethton and received his degree as a Micro Computer Network Specialist. Allen was a faithful member of Prayer Tabernacle Church where he served as Secretary and Treasurer for many years. He was a wonderful Christian man and a wonderful, kind, and loving husband. I will miss him and love him forever.
A “Special Thank You” to two nieces, Rhonda Bradshaw and Kim Johnson, for all their help with Allen. I could not have made it without your help. Also to Kristen and Lauren Baucom, you were both so special to your Uncle Allen. A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses on 5400 at JCMC, for all your love and care, also to Mark, Karen, Michelle, Samantha and Julie 5400, you are the best!
The family will have a visitation at Memorial Funeral Chapel from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 14. The graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Simerly Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Davis and Rev. Mack Presnell officiating. Pallbearers are Johnny Nelson, Michael Guy, Don Snowden, Mack Snowden, Charlie Jones, Roger Bailey and James Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Snowden, Ronald Conner, Todd Taylor, Prayer Tabernacle Church members and all of the Snowden Family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial Funeral Chapel to help with the cost of the funeral. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
