Shirley A. Kelly

Shirley A. Kelly, 62, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 23, 2016. She departed this life during the afternoon from the Johnson City Medical Center. Shirley was born on March 23, 1954 in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Eugene Kyte and Mary Potter. She was a native of Elizabethton but lived in Johnson City for seven years.
Shirley was of the Baptist faith. She found great joy in fishing with her beloved husband and cooking. Shirley adored butterflies and collected many items that were adorned with them. During her life, Shirley helped many people. She was a sweet woman with a loving heart that was full of compassion.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy and Donald Potter; grandmother, Lena Vines; and stepfather, Martin Potter.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of five years, Curtis Ray Kelly; sisters, Sandra J. Stout (Jim Stout), Lorrie Ann Wilson (Earl J. McAlyea) and Patty A. Potter (Dwayne Cruze); brothers, Danny R. Potter (Virginia Higgins) and Johnny Potter; special sister-in-law, Wanda Sue Kelly-Arwood; special friends, Brenda Grindstaff, Donna Baird and Linda Lewellyn; several nieces and nephews; and her furbaby, Emily Rose.
The family will receive friends at Snyder’s Memorial Gardens from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Steve Wilson, of Freedom Road Baptist Church in Elizabethton, officiating.
