One of city’s Mexican restaurants is currently closed for the time-being while remodeling efforts are underway.
El Charolais, located on Broad Street in Elizabethton, has seen a recent influx of workers at the area as the restaurant gears up for its reopening.
According to a sign placed on the front door of the restaurant, the projected reopening date was pegged for this week, which proved to be incorrect. A call placed to owner Luis Jauregui helped clarify the issue.
“We are looking to open up late Saturday,” he said. The owner also credited the work of individuals helping with the restructuring of the ceiling, heating and air system and electrical work.
“We had a delay with the electrical work,” he said. “But they’ve been working really hard. They still worked until almost midnight last night. It’ll look different in the inside. We’re excited about it.”
In a call placed to the restaurant’s East Tennessee State University-Kroger location, an employee confirmed the restaurant will reopen at a later date and that work is underway inside with remodeling and to the facility’s heating and air system.
