Faye G. Johnson was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., on June 22, 1937. She resided in Lewisville, N.C., formerly in Winchester, Va.
She is survived by her husband James of 59 years; her daughters, Jenny and husband Danny Parrish of Clemmons, N.C., Becky, husband Phil and granddaughter, Natalie Youngblood of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Julie Johnson of Clemmons, N.C.; brothers-in-law, Joe and Jack Johnson, and sister-in-law, Barbara; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Cindy, Nancy, Judy and Kay.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, L.T and Myrtle Johnson, and sister, Barbara.
In her last years of life, Faye was cared for at home by James; the anchor of her life, and supported by an amazing group of caregivers, who came to love Faye as her family does. Faye was an incredible, kind, and generous person, who had many interests and talents. She worked as a hairdresser before starting her family. She loved being a wife and mother, and from her home, she created tasty meals with a southern flair, packed countless lunches, sewed curtains, blankets, doll clothes, and mended broken hearts. She played drums, piano, tennis, and peacemaker. She enjoyed nature and planted many flowers, shrubs, and seeds of wisdom. She provided a welcoming environment for best friends, neighbors, her daughters’ BFFS, and boyfriends; stray dogs and cats, orphaned bunnies, and ducklings; but mice were on their own. She loved laughter, lively conversation, and never failed to have a funny story to tell. Faye was of the Christian faith and lived life knowing it would end in eternal peace. She attended First Baptist Church in Winchester, Va., where she served the church for many years in the children’s ministries and Mother’s Day Out program, teaching the three-year-old class.
A celebration of her life will be held at River Oaks Community Church in Clemmons, N.C., on Wednesday, July 20, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Sonny Flowers officiating. We kindly ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or to Community Home Care Hospice of Statesville.
