Chris Morefield, age 41, of Laurel Bloomery, TN passed away on Saturday July 2, 2016 at his home. He was born on August 15, 1974, Mountain City, Johnson County, to Phyllis Laws Morefield and the late William Dean Morefield. In addition to his dad William Dean “Paw” Morefield who passed away in 2014, Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents Oscar and Virginia Morefield of Mountain City and Fred and Elsie Laws of Butler; aunt, Glenda Smith; uncles, Benny Morefield, Jim Campbell and Roger Riddle.
Chris loved to hunt and fish but more than anything in this world, he loved to watch his son play basketball. Chris coached the youth in basketball for several years and loved every minute of it. He loved to encourage all of the players to be the best they could be on and off the court. Chris loved to make people laugh.
He was employed by Chappell’s Pest Control where he thoroughly enjoyed working with the staff and his customers.
Chris was a member of First Christian Church and former minister of Liberty Christian Church.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 21 years of marriage, Patricia Morefield and the miracle and light of his life,”Ryano”, his wonderful mother, Phyllis Morefield, father and mother-in -law, Ralph Dean and Helen Gentry, sister-in-laws; Deanna Schrayer and Tammy Caulkins and husband Todd, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service was held Monday, July 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the First Christian Church with Dwayne Dickson and James Bowman officiating. The family received friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday prior to the Memorial Service.
At other times, the family will receive friends at 724 Gentry Cemetery Rd., Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Chris’s memory for his son Ryan’s scholarship fund that will be set up in the near future.
