Larry Glen Fortner

Chief Master Sgt. Larry Glen Fortner, 67, passed away September 10, 2015, at his residence in Schertz, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie E. Rhudy A. Fortner; four brothers, David Fortner, Lloyd Fortner, James Fortner and J.L. Fortner; and one sister, Nora Irene Shirley.
Mr. Fortner retired with Honors in 1997 from the United States Air Force at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, after 30 years of service.
He attended Horseshoe Freewill Baptist Church. He was born August 10, 1948, in the Siam Community and attended Siam School. He graduated from Unaka High School and then entered the U.S.A.F.
He loved fishing, hiking, hunting, traveling and camping out with his wife, children, grandchildren, friends and family. He loved country, bluegrass and gospel music.
He is survived by his wife, Alazine Fortner, Schertz, Texas; two sons, Nickie Fortner of Florida and Rhudy Fortner, of the home; two brothers, Charles B. Fortner, Lincoln, Neb., and Ernest E. Fortner, Limestone, Tenn.; two sisters, Fannie Mae Gosnell, Jonesborough, and Glenda Hall, Johnson City, Tenn.; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Trula Fortner, Elizabethton.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, at Mountain Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make all donations to Disabled Veterans of America.
