An Elizabethton boy struck by an SUV as he rode a motorbike near his home Friday has died as the result of injuries he suffered in the accident.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. Friday in the driveway of a home on Crockett Lane, located just off Judge Ben Allen Road.
The boy, who has been identified by the Carter County Sheriff’s Department as 12-year-old Jesse Alan Hardin, suffered severe injuries in the crash and died Saturday at Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City.
Members of the Carter County Rescue Squad provided initial treatment to Hardin at the scene, and the child then was flown to Johnson City Medical Center by Wings Air Rescue.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident, but no additional information, including the name of the driver, had been released as of press time.
