Warriors, Lady Bulldogs win match at EGC

The Happy Valley boys golf team came away as the winners during a match between Elizabethton, Hampton and Sullivan East Wednesday at the Elizabethton Golf Course.
The Warriors gained the win with a score of 172, while Elizabethton finished just behind them with 181, followed by Hampton with 184 and Sullivan East with a 186.
However it was a pair of Cyclones who were able to grab the two lowest scores of the day, as Elizabethton junior Chris Schaff, who has taken home the lowest score for the sixth straight competition, shot a 36, while teammate Conley Bowers was just behind him with a 40. Those scores were followed by Happy Valley’s Zach Carter and Duncan Hodge, along with’s Sullivan East’s Ben Pritchard who all shot 41s on the day.
The other top Warriors were Nathan Kyte and Wyatt Hall with 45s, Malik Campbell with a 48 and Lane Kyte with a 50.
Elizabethton got a 50 from Zach Shflitt and 55 each from Keela Hall and Dalton Mullins.
The Lady Bulldogs team took home the girls’ match as Savannah Weddle (39) and Hannah Brummit (41) combined for a total of 80, each also finished with the two lowest scores of the day.
They were followed by Sullivan East, who had Holly Hamilton and McKayla Torbett each shoot a 43 to combine for an 86.
Carter County claimed the other three spots, with Hannah Younce and Hannah Bowers each hitting 46s, while Unaka’s Chandler Thomas (47) and Autumn Little (54) combined for a 101. The third player for Unaka, Katherine Lewis, hit a 57.
The final score came from Elizabethton, as Bailey Montgomery (50) and Kayci Royston (54) combined for a 104.
