Joy M. Laws

Mrs. Joy M. Laws, 86, of Johnson City, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Unicoi County Memorial Hospital, Erwin, Tenn., following an extended illness. Mrs. Laws was the daughter of the late William McKinley and Grace Peters Montgomery and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Laws; three sisters, Norma Hosey, Faye Burleson and Christine White; and two brothers, Carl Montgomery and Condon Montgomery.
Mrs. Laws was retired from Raytheon and was also a former employee of NARC. She was a member of Martindale Baptist Church. She loved country music, cooking and baking.
She is survived by a sister, Gertrude Frazier, Johnson City; two brothers, James Montgomery, Johnson City, and Mitchell Montgomery of Louisiana; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Montgomery, Elizabethton, and Carolyn Montgomery of Louisiana; and several nieces and nephews. Her special caregiver, Riley Clendenon, Johnson City, and her special dog, Mercedes, also survive.
A graveside service for Mrs. Joy M. Laws will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Delbert Storie officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Martindale Baptist Church, General Fund, 2406 Old Lewis Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
