Robert D. Eicher

Robert D. Eicher, 90, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Eicher was born in Fulton County, Ohio to the late Frank & Thelma Dangler Eicher. Robert served proudly as an Army Veteran of World War II – European Operation, 69th Division and 30th Infantry Division. Mr. Eicher was a rural mail carrier for thirty years. He and his wife Myra and daughter Trudy moved from Swanton, Ohio to Elizabethton in 1976.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 69 years Myra Rita Behan Eicher. His children: Karen Sue & John Pollauf, Millbury, Ohio, Terry Eicher, and Trudy & Chris Colbaugh all of Elizabethton. Six Grandchildren: Shane, Ashley, Elizabeth, Robert, Luis and Cameron, Six Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandson.
The family would like to express a “Special Thank You” to Avalon Hospice, Sue Creger and the Staff at the VA for their wonderful help with Mr. Eicher.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2015 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Greg Key officiating. Inurnment will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 in Mountain Home National Cemetery, with Military Honors by the American Legion. Pallbearers include: Bob Cordell, Smith Davenport, Chris Davenport and Jason Davenport. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:50 a.m. on Monday to go to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 207 N. Boone Street #25, Johnson City, TN 37604.
