Herman M. Greer Jr., 73, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Heavenly family, June 12, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Johnson City and a son of the late Herman M. and Marie Weaver Greer.
Herman served in the United States Army and was a former member of the Tennessee National Guard and a former member of the Honor Guard. He retired from the Johnson City Mall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Billy Greer; his brothers, Carl, Edward, Bobby, Dallas and Donnie Greer; a sister, Helen Jones; and a great-grandson, Parker Neyland Hicks.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Andre Clawson Greer; his daughters, Lutherene Richardson, of the home, and Elizabeth Marie Greer, her children and grandchildren, Johnson City; a brother, Jack Greer, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Minnie King, Piney Flats; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Brenda Stamey, Pennington Gap, Va.; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Tom Deloach, Andy and Shirlene White and James and Alma Townsend.
Graveside services for Herman M. Greer Jr. will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Fleenor officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be Andy White, Dusty Bradley, James Townsend and Bud Hicks. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Crabtree, Tom Deloach, Jackie Greer and Joe Guinn. Friends may visit with the family at his residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:50 p.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion.
