Paddy Joe Lilly

Paddy Joe Lilly, 78, of 209 Barrington Court W, Franklin, Tenn., 37067, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015, following a short illness. Joe was a native of Elizabethton, Tenn., and a lifelong member of the Christian Church. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University (BS) and Radford University (MS). He taught for more than 50 years at various schools, most notably Pulaski High School (Va.), Virginia High School (Va.) and several schools in Williamson County (Tenn). He loved teaching and always recalled each student fondly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Paddy Lilly; his sister, Janet Lilly; and his lifelong friend, Fred Milam.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Kate Wolfe Lilly; son Wallace Lilly (Liz); daughter Rebecca Lilly Roberts (Mark Smith); grandsons Ryan and Matthew Roberts; sister Lucy Ann Lilly Estep (Shube); many nieces and nephews; and longtime friends Lagonda and Lloyd Davis, Kathy Milam and Dorothy and Warren Fureman.
A memorial service will be performed by Pastor Randy Overdorf on Saturday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at Range Community Christian Church, 175 Hart Road, Elizabethton, Tenn., 37647. Music will be provided by Kayla Neikirk. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Range Community Christian Church.
