Patsy Lee Geagley Jones

RUMSON, N.J. — Elizabethton native Patsy Lee Geagley Jones, lovingly called “Peej,” 73, of Rumson, formerly of Delray Beach, Fla., passed away on March 17, 2015, at Riverview Medical Center, after a valiant seven-year battle against cancer. Born on July 9, 1941 to Mary Lee Geagley (nee Brown) and John Wilford “Shorty” Geagley, she grew up on the same street in the same town until graduating from East Tennessee State University as a Speech and Hearing Pathologist.
Patsy’s professional careers include Speech and Hearing Pathology in Tennessee, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, and Real Estate in the six New England states, then finishing with a career in the world of Academia at Florida Atlantic University. Patsy was a member of the JAYCEES, PTA, Girl Scout Leader, The Rotary Club, Toast Masters, Gilda’s Club and many others.
Patsy made her final home in Rumson, N.J., with her daughters and their families, Jennifer (Jones) Eckhoff and her husband Ray, and Jada (Jones) Kavanagh and her husband Scott; and four grandchildren, Jessica and Jamie Lynne Eckhoff and Patrick and Kaitlin Kavanagh. Patsy is also survived by her only brother, John Geagley of Elizabethton, Tenn.; her sister-in-law, Peggy Geagley; nephews, Kelly and Matt Geagley and Tommy Wetzel, their respective wives and children; and a niece, Betsy Geagley and her children and grandchildren. She also leaves behind her lifelong friends, Mary and Nathan Dean of Georgia, and her sweet feline companion, Jasmine.
