Pamela Alford Roe

Pamela Alford Roe, 59, of Johnson City, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Pam was born and had been a resident of Johnson City her entire life. She was a 1974 graduate of Science Hill High School, where she was a majorette and furthered her education by earning her LPN degree. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and Nana. She truly had a nurse’s heart and compassionately cared for each of her patients.
Pam loved the mountains of East Tennessee and had a great love for animals. Pam served on the Board of Directors for the Washington County Humane Society and her love for children was exemplified by serving as a Girl Scouts den mother. She had a great love for music and enjoyed the blues, hymns of the church and the 1970’s rock n’ roll. Pam’s hobbies included hiking, jogging, swimming and she enjoyed family trips to the beach. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Pam was an active member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, Johnson City.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Ruble and Jessie Mae Alford.
Surviving Pam: her husband of 19 years, Congressman Phil Roe M.D.; one daughter, Whitney Larkin; two sons, David Roe and wife Kimberly and John Roe and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Kathryn and Caroline Roe; her step-mother, Verna Lee Alford; and her beloved pets, Max and Sabrina.
The family will greet friends to share memories on Sunday, March 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, Johnson City. A Celebration of Pam’s Life will follow at 3 p.m. with Dr. Mark Gooden and Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Immediately following the service the family will greet guests in the Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church Christian Life Center. The graveside service will be private. Active pallbearers will be Joe Grandy, Dr. Turney Williams, Gerald Thomas, Dr. David Jones, Paul Chadha and Dr. Tom Eades. Honorary pallbearers will be John Abe Teague, Bill Darden, Bill Snodgrass, Steve Meroney, Governor Bill Haslam, Jim Roe, Jeff Sims, Larry Reaves and Phil Street.
