The annual Carter County Legislative Breakfast scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. has been postponed.
The Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce staff made the decision to reschedule the breakfast out of concerns for the safety of those attending.
“With the ice and snow, along with the extreme temperatures, it wouldn’t have been safe for the people coming out,” said Elizabeth White, administrative assistant.
Staff are still working to reschedule the breakfast and are working to coordinate timing with officials who planned to attend. All purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled event.
White said the new date for the breakfast should be set in the next few days.
The Chamber has invited the local mayors from Carter County, Elizabethton and Watauga, along with state and federal representatives and legislators. Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, Sen. Rusty Crowe, Rep. Timothy Hill, Rep. John Holsclaw and Elizabethton Mayor Curt Alexander had confirmed their attendance.
The public is invited to attend the breakfast at the rescheduled time to meet with the area’s leaders and discuss issues that are important to them.
The annual event is being sponsored by Snap-on Tools, International Paper, East Tennessee State University and Fatz, who will also cater the breakfast. The event is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Carter County Tomorrow.
Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased at the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce, 500 Veterans Memorial Highway.
