A knock at the door from an unknown man led to a call to police and public intoxication charges for the late night visitor.
Elizabethton Police Department officers responded to a woman’s call to 911 after a man she didn’t know began knocking on the door of her apartment at 213 Cedar Ave. and yelling.
EPD Officer Ryan Brackett said he found Dennis Hartless, 35, 2104 Fishpond Road, Chuckey, sitting on the porch. Brackett asked Hartless what was going on, and Hartless reportedly responded, “I’m (expletive) up.”
“I then asked the male subject what that implied, at which time he said ‘drugs’,” Brackett wrote. “I then asked what drugs Mr. Hartless was currently taking at which time he yelled ‘None of your (expletive) business.”
Brackett wrote in the report that Hartless smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot “pin-point” eyes and slurred speech.
Brackett said Hartless told him he had been to a concert, and he was wearing an orange wristband similar to the ones handed out at the downtown Elizabethton event “Jiggypalooza.”
Hartless was then asked to stand, and nearly fell over according to the arrest report. He was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication. He is scheduled to be in General Sessions Court on Nov. 10.
