In an effort to help pets find forever homes, the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter will host a dog adoption event Saturday at Wal-Mart.
Shelter staff and volunteers will be outside of the store with friendly, spayed or neutered dogs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We will have several medium-to-large size, friendly, already fixed dogs for adoption,” said ECCAS Manager April Jones.
Some of the dogs that may be available for adoption, if they have not been adopted from the shelter before the event, will be:
• Dahlia, a female boxer mix.
• Koda, a young male mix breed.
• Hudson, a senior adult male beagle.
• Jack, a young adult male beagle.
• Karole, a young adult plot hound mix.
• Rufus, a male lab mix.
Jones hopes the Wal-Mart adoption event approaches the success of the Petsense adoption drive held last weekend.
“We had 23 dogs and cats adopted at Petsense,” Jones said. “That was amazing and we are very excited about that. We know this one will probably be a smaller event but we are hoping a lot of these dogs will find homes.”
Jones said anyone who comes to adopt a dog should consider bringing a crate or a leash with which to transport their new pet home.
