Millions of people use social media each day to share what they are doing, post the latest funny cat video or a photo of what they had for lunch.
But there’s also a practical side to these communication platforms: businesses can use social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, to promote their business and gain a new customer base.
East Tennessee State University representatives, in conjunction with Carter County Tomorrow, will host a workshop on social media for businesses at the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 5-8 p.m.
CCT President Tom Anderson said the workshop would focus on different ways that businesses could use social media sites to draw attention to new happenings in their business or to attract completely new customers.
He added that businesses did not already need to have a social media page to participate in the workshop and that time would be allotted for businesses to create profiles if they did not already have one.
Interested businesspersons should call the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce at 547-3850 to register so that a head count for the workshop can be calculated. A limited number of laptops will be available through the library.
