Robert S. “Bob” Watson

Robert S. “Bob” Watson, 80, of Butler, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Mr. Watson was a son of the late Allen Dot and Winnie White Watson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Bible Watson; a sister, Mabel Cooper; and two brothers, Tommy and Jim Watson.
Mr. Watson was retired as a machinist from Norfolk Naval Ship Yard and attended Little Milligan Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time on Watauga Lake, boating and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Whaley Brown Watson, of the home; one daughter, Betty Curles and husband Gene, Chesapeake, Va.; one granddaughter, Wendy Matthews, Chesapeake, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Kaileigh Matthews and Ashleigh Matthews, both of Chesapeake, Va.; and three sisters, Charlotte Jones, Betty Fletcher and Sue Proffitt, all of Portsmouth, Va. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The graveside service for Mr. Watson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake, Va., with Rev. William “Buddy” Hoggard officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton.
