East Tennessee writer Dianne Barker will sign copies of her latest book, “I Don’t Chase the Garbage Truck Down the Street in My Bathrobe Anymore! Organizing for the Maximum Life” at LifeWay Christian Store, 3211 Peoples St., Johnson City, on Saturday, May 3, from 1-3 p.m.
“This book throws a rope to the desperate who are drowning in disorganization,” Barker said. “It gives practical strategies to organize space, time, and family chaos while encouraging personal renovation—purging interior garbage such as inferiority and low esteem.” She surveyed 75 women in 17 states from Pennsylvania to Hawaii and included their organization tips.
Barker hosts a weekly program on WHCB Radio, 91.5 FM, “At the Library” on Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. She speaks for women’s events, teaching about marriage, parenting, relationships, and abundant living.
A former staff writer and columnist for the Johnson City Press-Chronicle, Barker wrote her first book, “Billy Graham in Big Orange Country,” after covering the 1970 Knoxville crusade for the newspaper. In 2012 she published “Cabbages and Kings — Reflections on Living Abundantly in Christ,” a collection of devotional-style articles originally published in her newspaper column.
